The former Judge of the County of Doña Ana, Joel Cano, and his wife, Nancy Cano, were tasks in custody on Thursday after the federal agents raided their house of the crosses.
The two face evidence manipulation charges amid accusations that Cristio Ortega-López, an alleged illegal foreigner who also believes that he is a member of the famous gang of Venezuela Train of Aragua.
“According to President Trump, we have arrested about 150,000 foreigners, including more than 600 members of the vicious gang of Aragua,” said the Secretary of the Department of National Security (DHS), Kristi.
“If you are illegally and violates the law, we will hunt you, we will judge you and lock you. That is a promise.”
The sentence follows an incident of February where Ortega-López was arrested at the Cano residence.
The Court’s documents reveal that Nancy Cano initially hired him for home repairs and then offered accommodation at the couple’s guest house.
The researchers discovered evidence that links Ortega-López with the Train de Aragua gang, including clothes related to gangs, tattoos, voice messages and text messages.
According to judicial documents, that of the United States entered the United States on December 15, 2023, crossing the border near Eagle Pass, Texas, without inspection or authorization.
It was released in December. 18, 2023, waiting for elimination procedures due to overcrowding in the installation of the border patrol.
A notice was issued to appear, initiating formal disposal procedures under the immigration and nationality law.
An additional investigation led to the seizure of four firearms from the residence of April Cano, the daughter of the couple.
Ortega-López was found in publications on social networks that posed with weapons, some of which, according to him, was owned by April.
He currently faces federal charges for being an illegal foreigner in possession of a firearm, a rape of 18 USC § 922 (g) (5).
If he is convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison.
“Doña Ana County has been a seedbed or an illegal immigration and drug trafficking, human smuggling for many, many years,” said former ICE field office John Fabbricatore to WPMI.
“Seeing that a judge would allow this to happen. It is very worrying. It’s worrying. What else has the judge been doing?”
Judge Cano resigned from his judicial position in March and on Tuesday, the Supreme Court of New Mexico issued a ruling that prohibits him from remaining judicially in the judicial state in the state.
“The people of New Mexico are tired of a system in which the powerful do not play for their own rules,” said Amy Barela, president of the Republican Party of New Mexico, to the Sun-News crosses.
“We demand a real responsibility for the connection of Judge Cano with a criminal and full transparency affiliated with gangs on how our judiciary is arrested to the same laws as the rest of us. It is already enough.”
National Security investigations continue to lead the case, Kfox reported.
