Vice President JD Vance reaffirmed the full confidence of the Trump administration in Defense Secretary Pete Hegseeth on Wednesday, underlining the positive recruitment trends in the Armed Forces.

Vance’s comments for a gaggle out of the Air Force II in Agra, India, when a journalist asked him if he still has confidence in Hegseeth:

Look, I have 100 percent confidence in the secretary. I know that the president does, and the whole team does. It is one of the strangest things about Hegseth’s nomination: from the beginning, the media seemed to want to capture it, and when they failed and confirmed it, they decided that they had the volume of following that effort to destroy as a defense. I think he is doing a great job. I think he has brought some spirit to the Department of Defense.

Vance then pointed out the recruitment of numbers under the Secretary of Defense as evidence of his strong performance.

“If we look at our military recruitment numbers, that is in my opinion, the best will for their leadership of the military, is that for the first time in a long time, we do not have problems of territory in the army, the Air Force”, “,”.

“And frankly I want the press to talk more about that and not about the anonymous supply of random employees,” he added.

The Army remarkably had 51,837 recruits from last week and is tracking to easily achieve its recruitment objective for fiscal year 2025, which began on October 1, reports military.com:

As of last week, the Army had recruited 51,837 recruits, or 85% of its 61000 objective for fiscal year 2025, according to service data proven to Military.com. A significant portion of that total of 14,000 Hotor of the delayed service program, or DEP, which is composite or recruits that were registered last year, but only now they are being sent to the basic training. The Army has the rest of the fiscal year, which ends on September 30, to reach its recruitment fee.

Despite the DEP, the numbers still represented an increase compared to last year. At this point in 2024, the Army had reached only 63% of its objective, obtaining 34,512 recruits, including only 5,000 of the dep. The increase in delayed tickets this year is greatly attributed to the aggressive rhythm of army recruitment in 2024, which exceeded the training capacity available.

Moreover, recruitments for the Air Force delay program in December, January and February went to the highest rate in more than 15 years, according to the departure, while US Naval Institute News reported that the Navy was in the Piscal year.
