The former governor of Maine Paul Lepage (R) presented documents to run for the 2nd District of the Maine Congress, which the representative Jared Golden (D-Me) currently represents.

The Federal Elections website (FEC) shows a page for “Paul Lepage for Congress” with a date of May 4, 2025.

Affiliated communities and organizations appear as “Victoria de Lepage Fund”, according to the Fec.

This occurs when David Whitney, a member of the Republican National Committee (RNC), announced on the social networks that Lepage would make an announcement about an execution of Congress on Monday, according to The Bangor Daily News.

Brent Littlefield, a Lepage strategist told The Outlet that it would be “more to say tomorrow.”

According to the departure, Lepage “will enter one of the most competitive race in the country”, since Golden is “considering a career to replace” the Democratic governor of Maine Janet Mills:

It will pass in one of the most competitive races in the country. Golden is considering a race to replace the term limited factories after maintaining his seat in less than 3,000 votes about Republican Austin Theriault in 2024. Republicans would be favored to turn the seat if Golden saw it.

In July 2021, Lepage announced that it was running for Governor of Maine in 2022 after serving as a state governor for two terms.

Lepage ended up losing to Mills in November 2022, with Mills receiving 376,934 votes, or 55.7 percent of the votes, while Lepage received 287,304 votes, or 42.4 percent of the votes, according to New York Times.
