With Matthew Stafford, 37, just out of a tight contract and went to his 17th NFL season, Los Angeles Rams should be looking for a substitute and any replacement, right?

Perhaps, but the story tells us that the Rams could take a pass to collect a field marshal in this year’s draft. From Sean McVay Tok as a chief coach in 2017, the Rams have selected only a field marshal in the Draft: Georgia Stetson Bennett’s product in the fourth round in 2023.

Instead, Los Angeles has sought in the commercial market and free agency to improve the field Marshal. The most shocking of these movements was to send General National Team No. 1 of 2016 to Jared Goff and select the Detroit Lions for Stafford in the low season of 2021. That led to a Super Bowl victory and three appearances in the playoffs of Stafford’s duration in Los Angeles.

In addition to acquiring Stafford, the Rams have brought advertising projects such as Blake Bortles, Baker Mayfield, Carson Wentz and Jimmy Garoppolo to serve as support.

Some simulated drafts have Los Angeles taking Shedeur Sanders or Jaxon Dart with General National Team No. 26, or maybe someone like Jalen Milroe or Kyle McCord later. Without a doubt, the Rams are exploring them, but they are more likely to be doing their homework in case the thesis perspectives are available in the future.

“If you know that you know them now, then when you may be free agents without restrictions or some version of a trade, it also has that data point,” said General Manager Les Snead. “It may be when you go to play against these players. You can learn about who the enemy will be that Sunday. There are many variables to meet people, sure.”

If Stafford suffered an injury in the training camp or the beginning of the regular season, the Rams could seek to acquire a field marshal such as Sam Howell, Will Levis or Kirk Cousins in trade or sign Ryan Tannehill or Aaron Raven.

Directed by a young and improved defense, the Rams need to use their draft selections to update the general talent of the list to take advantage of a Super Bowl window that leads the offers.

McVay said he would have a conversation with Stafford if the Rams intend to write a field marshal this week. McVay said he spoke with Stafford before writing Bennett in 2023.

“You want to be as inclusive as possible, Aspecy players who are in position,” McVay said. “That would be something we would do, just as we did when we submerged Stetson a couple of years ago.”

Stafford was added: “If a field marshal appears and feel the need to take them, I will welcome them with open arms and try to teach them as much as I can.”

For his part, Stafford said he has focused on ensuring that he can perform his standards in 2025. As he ages, he said that he does not take too much free time in the low season.

“At this level and at this stage of my career, it is much more difficult to do it again,” said Stafford. “I really never get out of that. I think that’s the most important thing for me. I cooled a couple of weeks here or there, but I constantly move and try to make sure that my body never moves away from where we finish the season.

“I’m just trying to make sure that this is the best today and I hope it is the first Sunday of the year.”
