Former NFL kicker Jay Feely announces plan to run for U.S. House of Representatives seat

Jay Feely announced his plan to run for a seat in the United States Representatives House on Tuesday.

“I am excited to announce my candidacy for the United States Congress in the fifth district of the Arizona Congress,” Feely wrote in X. “I hope to get his vote.”

Feely was a kicker in the NFL for 13 seasons, four of which played for the Arizona cardinals. He played for a total of six franchises. After his retirement from the NFL, Fley became a commentator, reporter and analyst at CBS Sports. He was first a colored analyst who covered university football and then went on to cover the NFL in 2017.

Feely will seek to replace representative Andy Biggs, who is postulated to become a governor of Arizona after eight years in Congress. The Feely campaign website said it is running “to fight for border security, protect our freedoms and put the United States first.”

Born and raised near Tampa, Florida, attended the University of Michigan from 1994 to 1998, winning a national championship with the Wolverines in 1997. He had a two -year period in the Arena Soccer League before the Atlanta Falcons.

The longest race of Feely with an NFL team was with the Falcons of 2001-04 and the 2010-13 cardinals. He finished his professional career with the Chicago Bears in 2014.
