An ordinary camera could soon take photos of things that are out of view, thanks to the algorithms that interpret how light bounces on a wall.
“Normally, when the light bounces on the rough surfaces, such as the walls, fight against the scene in a messy blur,” says Wenwen Li at China’s University of Science and Technology, Hefei. “Our goal was to ‘decipher’ that blurred and recover the hidden scene. Think about it how to turn a rough wall into a mirror.”
