A former Pro-Russian politician from Ukraine was a fatal shot on Wednesday morning outside his children’s school in the Spanish capital Madrid, according to the Reuters news agency and multiple Spanish media. Andriy Portnov was killed outside the American School of Madrid by a man or unidentified armed man, according to the reports.
“Several people shot him on his back and head and then fly to a wooded area,” Reuters said a source not identified in the Spanish Interior Ministry.
There was no immediate confirmation of the identity of the man killed by the National Police of Spain or other authorities, and no indication of a reason or any suspect that may have identified the leg. Witnesses told the Spanish media that at least a possible suspect was seen running towards a nearby wooded area.
According to the newspaper El Diario de España, citing witnesses, Portnov was shot right after leaving his children in the American school. The photos of the scene showed the body of a man lay motionless on the ground behind a Mercedes sedan.
