Start-Up China Pony.AI said Friday that he will develop autonomous management technology in association with Tencent Cloud and implements Robotaxi services in Wechat and other applications of the Tencent Technological Giant.

The company that is in Nasdaq that specializes in autonomous vehicle technology, partly robotaxis and Robtructs, he said in a press release that the agreement will include cooperation in areas such as cloud services, map data, information security and intelligent ecosystems of the cabin.

The agreement will also see the two companies to integrate the Pony.AI Robotaxi transport services within the popular Wechat application of Tencent, as well as other applications such as Tencent Maps.

Both companies had been in conversations “For quite some time,” said the CEO of Pony.AI, James Peng, CNB -on the margin of Shanghai’s auto show on Friday. He quoted the huge user base of Tencent and his cloud offers as factors support the collaboration of “win-win” as the start-up continues to increase.

After the association, Peg said that “hopefully in the near future,” users could call Pony.Ai Robotaxi rides directly through the Wechat application.

Wechat is known as the most popular ‘superpection’ in the world, which houses everything, from messages to payment transactions to food delivery services, with a monthly user base or approximately one billion people.

“Pony.AI has accumulations of autonomous driving technology in the industry, while Tencent stands out in cloud, mapping and technologies of the cabin ecosystem”, vice president of Tencent Group and president of Tencent Smart Mobility Zhong Relay.

“This strategic association between the two parties is not just about complementing the technologies and resources of others, but also marks a new starting point for collaborative innovation,” he added.

The statement said that the association would also see both companies collaborate in the development, evidence and operation of robotaxis, indulgently in the Autonomous Level L4 driving.

According to Sae International, L4 is a type of autonomous driving that allows drivers to take their eyes off the road in designated areas. For a comparison, L3 is considered a non -intervention system, but drivers must monitor the vehicle and be ready to take care of the wheel.

The Tencent Cloud agreement occurs a day after it was reported that Pony.AI presented its Robotaxi L4 solution, seventh generation in Shanghai’s auto show on Wednesday. The company’s shares increased around 40% in the US. UU. Thursday.

The new company continues to establish itself as a prominent player in the autonomous driving industry of China. The company forced China’s first permission to collect rates for drisveress taxis in central parts of a Shenzhen commercial district, where Tencent has its headquarters.

However, the company may be involved in increasing commercial tensions between China and the United States, since Lattter is a market pony. AI considers “greatly important” for its expansion plans.

James Peng, co -founder and executive director of Pony.AI, this week, he told The Financial Times this week that the company is consulting a secondary list that exceeds the United States in the midst of the growing concerns that Washington will press for the elimination of New Yorkies.

If this happened, it would arrive less than six months after the company’s initial public offer in the United States, despite PENG, he told FT that many factors should be considered.
