US Embassy advises citizens to avoid travelling to Jammu and Kashmir

After the missile attacks carried out by India in terrorist sites in Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmira occupied by Pakistan (Pok), the United States embassy in India has advised US citizens who avoid traveling to the territory of the union of Jammu and Kashmir.

On a security alert issued on Wednesday, the United States embassy in India declared: “As advised in the Indian Travel Advisor, US citizens should avoid traveling to the territory of the Union of Jammu and Kashmir. As indicated on April 23, 2025, security alert, to the United States government staff, they are prohibited from traveling to Jammu and Kashmir.”

The United States Embassy asked Americans to monitor social networks to obtain updates and register in the Smart Travel Registration Program (STEP) to receive security updates. He pointed out that there are flight interruptions throughout India. The United States embassy advised US citizens to inform their friends and family of their safety. He asked American citizens to review their personal security plan and make sure their passport is valid to travel. In the statement, the United States embassy said the embassy and all consulates remain open for regular businesses.

The Indian Armed Forces shared details about the Sindoor operation on Wednesday, a specific strike mission to destroy the terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pok. Going to a press conference in Delhi on Wednesday, Foreign Secretary, Vikram Miskri, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and the commander of Ala Vyomika Singh described the objectives of the operation and tested details about the destroyed terrorist fields. Four of the nine directed terrorist camps are in Pakistan and Pok removing. The operation, executed by the Indian Armed Forces, dismantled the terrorist infrastructure linked to Lashkar-E-Taiba (Let), Jaish-E-Mohammed (JEM) and Hizbul Mujahideen. Colonel Qureshi detailed the target camps, stating that the four terrorist fields destroyed in Pakistan are Bahawalpur, Muridke, Sarjal and Mehmoona Joya.

The strikes, made between 1:05 am and 1:30 am on Wednesday, were a coordinated effort of the Indian army, the Navy and the Air Force, aiming at nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pok based on credible intelligence. The Ala Vyomika Singh commander elaborated the strategic intention of the operation, stating that “the Sindoor operation” was a reprisal of the horrible terrorist attack of Pahalgam or on April 22 to serve justice for innocent victims and their families. “He revealed that Pakistan has coined a complex terrorist infrastructure for three decades, which includes 21 recruitment, indoctrination and launch of Acrosse Pakistan and Pok centers

In the precision of the operation, Colonel Qureshi clarified: “The military installation was not addressed, and so far there are no reports of civil victims in Pakistan.”
