Tamil Nadu uses drones for mine monitoring, elephant surveillance, bio-mining

    The drones are playing an expanding role in the governance efforts of Tamil Nadu, with the Uncian -manned aerial vehicle corporation of Tamil Nadu, established under the Department of Higher Education, executing key projects in 2024–25.

Drones are now helping some of the departments in the government of Tamil Nadu for various purposes ranging from the volumetric analysis of mines to the surveillance of elephants in the Mature Forest Cordillera.

This service is being carried out by a two -year -old Nadu Nadu Nadu Air Vehicle Corporation, established under the Higher Education Department.

In 2024-25, the corporation completed some marquee projects. One was verifying the volumetric analysis of the mines rented by the Department of Mines. This assured that the monetization of mining was carried out accurately and also assured that the amount of mining was within the authorized limits, according to the policy note of the Highher 2025-26 Department of Education presented at the Assembly of Tamil Nadu, NGONDI Chezhian.

The corporation also performed a volumetric analysis of the Kodungaiyur Dump Yard Bio-Minería project. The data provided by the Corporation provide critical data on the progress of the biological project, according to the policy note.

Currently, the corporation has enthusiasm in establishing surveillance systems based on drones in the Rabernos of Madukkarai forests to safeguard the wild elephants that are run over by trains, according to the policy note.

The corporation is also training more than 15,000 students under the scheme of Naan Mudhalvan.

It also explores the ingredients of the beers of use of technologies related to drones in collaboration with the desire government agencies to improve the quality of governance, according to the policy note.

Tamil Nadu will soon establish a university in the name of former Prime Minister M Karunanidhi in Kumbakonam, MK Stalin Main Minister announced in the Assembly.
