Coal India signs MoU with DVC to set up brownfield power project in Jharkhand, with investment of ₹16,500 crore

Coal Behemoth Coal India signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Monday with the state energy service Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) to establish an ultra -critical energy project of 1,600 MW of 1,600 MW in Jharkhand, with a total investment.

This Brownfield project or 2 x 800 MW electric plants, an expansion of the Chandrapura Thermal Energy Station or 2 x 250 MW capacity, is the Indian Coal Movement to further expand its business diversification portfolio in the generation of thermal energy.

For the 1,600 MW energy project, a joint advantages company would be established in a basic expenses of 50 percent shared action, Coal India said in a presentation of the Stock Exchange.

“A memorandum of non -binding understanding was signed between the two energy entities owned by the government on April 21 in Kolkata,” he said.

The Damodar Valley corporation area based in Kolkata, a joint property of West Bengal, Jharkhand and the center, extends over the two states.

In the presence of Prime Minister Prasad, President, CIL and S Suresh Kumar, President, DVC, the Covenant was signed by Debash Nanda, CIL Business Development (Development) and Swapnendu Kumar Panda, Member (Technical) DVC (Technician) on behalf of state -im -state companies.

The coal for the proposed power plants will be obtained from the coal fields in the proximity of the subsidiary companies of Coal India, Bharat Cooking Coal and Central Coalfields.

Notable, for the objective of diversification of thermal energy generation of Coal India, Mahanadi Basin Power (MBPL) plans to implement 2 x 800 MW (phase-i) Power Station, a green field project, in Odisha. MBPL, a SPV, is a total property subsidiary or mahanadi coal fields (MCL). MCL is also a subsidiary of Coal India, which is the largest coal miner in the world.

In addition, Coal India had signed a Mou with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (RRVunl) for the last time for the exploration and execution of energy projects. The generation of proposing electricity would be through a mixture of coal thermal energy plant, solar projects, pump storage plant and wind projects.
