Life was a constant juggling between work stress, personal commitments and that sense of discontent. As you can guess, my days were far from being happy.

But then, when I deepened the kingdom of psychology, I ran into some interesting ideas. Ideas that show me what happy people do differently every day, almost instinctively.

And guess what? These were simple but incredible effective behaviors.

This is where it becomes more exciting. These are not complex or esoteric rituals, but simple things that you and I can start doing today.

3) Regular exercise

This was a pill difficult to swallow for me. As a perfectionist, I was my own resin critic. I would hit me for every little mistake, constantly fighting for unattainable perfection.

Now, when I’m wrong, I give myself children and understanding, I would give a friend. And it has made a significant difference to my general happiness.

Then, the next time he makes an error or fails in something, instead of winning, try to extend some compassion towards you. It’s okay to be imperfect. Remember, we are all human and we are all doing our best.

6) Focus on the positive

It is easy to get caught in the negatives of life. I used to be like that, always concentrate on what was going wrong instead of appreciating what was going well.

But then I ran into an appointment by psychologist Martin Seligman, or called the father of positive psychology. He said: “The good life is to use its exclusive strengths every day to produce authentic happiness and abundant gratification.”

This appointment made me realize that by obsessing the negatives, I lacked the good of my life. Then, I made a conscious effort to change my approach.

Now, every time something goes wrong, I remember looking for the positive side. I make a point to find something positive in each day, no matter how small it is.

This change in perspective has just made me happy; It has also made me more resistant. Now, when life throws me curved balls, I am better equipped to handle them.

Take it from me and Martin Seligman: focusing on the positive can significantly raise their daily happiness. Start small. Look for something that is well in your day and appreciates it. It is a small step, but it can lead to great changes.

7) embrace discomfort

Now, this may sound contradictory. After all, isn’t the happiness of feeling good all the time?

Well, not exactly. You will see, real and lasting happiness is not about avoiding discomfort or negative emotions. It is about accepting them as part of life and learning to deal with them in a healthy way.
