Kenya’s long -term corridor returned a positive test after making the podium in this year’s Rome marathon

Brian Kipsang, who registered 2:07:58 per second in the Marathon of Rome (March 16), has received a two -year prohibition from the Athletics Integrity Unit after positive for a prohibited substance.

The urine sample in the competition of the 30 -year -old returned a positive triamcinolone acetonuro test, which has been appointed in the forbidden list of the World Anti -Doping Agency (AMA) since 2014.

Kipsang was judged by the Athletic Integrity Unit for not having an exemption of therapeutic use (TUE) for the substance.

The AIU said: “On April 22, due to the failure of the athlete to request the sample B analysis before the deadline of April 9, the AIU written to the athlete and confirmed that it was considered that Irrevocff renounced its right to Buest analysis.

“Then he had April 25 with the relationship with the other issues established by the AIU on April 9. On May 1, the AIU received an admission of violations of the anti -doping rules and the acceptance of the consequent way signed by the athlete.”

The Kipsang result of the 2025 Marathon has been disqualified, including the confiscation of any medals, classification points and appearance money. However, his second place in last year’s edition, recorded 2:07:56 in the Italian capital, is still standing.

Since the AIU declared that the violations remain intentional and Kipsang also admitted to them, the prohibition was established in the two mandatory and not four years, since May 1, 2025.
