After the contentious census, Karnataka’s prime minister, Siddaramaiah, has announced a state survey to collect empirical data on scheduled caste sub -hosts (SC). The exercise, scheduled from May 5 to 17, aims to guarantee the equitable distribution of reserve benefits and strengthen the State’s commitment to social justice.
Going to a press conference, Siddaramaiah said: “This survey ensures that no community is left behind in the Karnataka development trip.”
The survey will be carried out in three phases: visits through which, special camps and an online self -decoration option. A commission of a member headed by the retired judge from the Superior Court Nagamohan Das will supervise the process, he said.
Around 65,000 school teachers have a bone deployment as enumerators, backed by supervisors in a proportion of one for every 10-12 topographs. Citizens can share their details of subcasts through home visits, attend special camps between May 19 to 21 or send online information from May 19 to 23, he explained.
The measure occurs after the Supreme Court, on August 1, 2024, ruled that states can introduce internal installments for scheduled castes, proved that they have an empirical support. The Nagamohan DAS Commission had previously highlighted the need for verified population data before these policies are implemented.
The commission is expected to present its report within 60 days after data collection, after which the Government will end the Revised Reserve frameworks.
