Confronted with the closure of Pakistan airspace, airlines in India have begun to implement strategies to reduce their losses.

These maneuvers evolved from the 2019 experience when the airspace had remained closed for a few months after Balakot’s air strikes by the Indian Air Force. At that time, large international fleet operators such as Air India suffered mass losses estimated in the range of ₹ 3-6 million rupees per day. It is estimated that the industry as a whole lost around ₹ 700 million rupees in that period.

As an air corridor, Pakistan airspace is vital for Indian airlines, especially for west flights from northern cities such as Delhi to Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia and even for the United States.

Talking with Business lineRepresentatives of the senior industry said that a basic play book of 2019 will be applied with refinements. This implies creating technical stops, nightclub flights and using alternative facilities such as the recently renewed Ahmedabad airport, Bangalore airport and the next Navi Mumbai airports.

Consequently, flights from northern India to the United States and Europe will deviate through Mumbai and then north over the Arabic sea through the United Arab Emirates airspace.

Stops to replenish

In addition, sources said Business lineAir India is expected to create technical stops to replenish fuel refueling in Vienna and Copenhagen.

The sources said that Indigo’s multiple policy, as well as the most direct connections from several points throughout the country to the Gulf States, will isolate it from any important impact.

Even so, industry experts have estimated an increase in air rates and losses for airlines with headquarters in India.

But in a general basic development of airport infrastructure, and extensive national carriers of transporters will help mitigate the impact on the industry, fountains said.

“Today, passengers opt for flights from places like Luckknow, Delhi, Bengaluru to Kochi or elsewhere and then to the destinations of Western Asia. We can easily see flights to Europe and the United States operated this said:” Another representation of the airline Business line.
