The Freedom of New York announced on Monday that two signatories of the training field, Raquel Carrera and Seehia Rirad, are out for 2025 due to a personal decision.

Raquel Carrera is a Spanish power forward who currently plays for the Valencia basket of the Women’s League in Spain. She was recruited by Atlanta’s dream with selection 15 in 2021. His draft rights were subsequently changed to freedom. You still have to play in the WNBA despite being the tallest Spanish player ever chosen in a WNBA draft.

Seehia Rirad is a front of French power who recently played in Sedis Cadi La Seau in Spain. He published on Instagram that he had undergone surgery three days ago.

Freedom currently has 14 players under contract in the training camp

The Liberty has 8 players who return under the contract last season: Nyara Sabally, Jayyn Sherrod, Leonie Febich, Sabrina Ionescu, Breanna Stewart, Kennedy Burke, Kaitlyn Davis, Marquesha Davis and Betnijah Laney-Hilton.

This winter, Natasha Cloud acquired through trade, and signed Isabelle Harrison and Marine Johannes. Johannes played for the last time for freedom in 2023, but stayed out of the 2024 season to play with his French national team.

Esmery Martínez and Rebekah Gardner will also compete for the places on the list in the training camp. The French Center Adjla Kane was selected 38th in general in the Draft of 2025, but will remain abroad over the next few years.

“As an organization, we are proud to adopt the global nature of the game and we are proactive to gather a deep group of international talent,” said Liberty’s general manager Jonathan Kolb. “We had a unique opportunity tonight to select Adeta Kane, a talented young player from a strong program in France, who will continue to develop abroad over the next few years with our support from afar.”

Of the 14 players under contract, 12 will make the final list of freedom.

One thing that could come into play is the health status of Laney-Hamilton; The veteran striker is expected to be lost, if not all, of the season with an injury in the meniscus he suffered in the low season.
