The delays in the flight at the IGI airport of the national capital led to the Minister of Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu to review the facilities in Terminal III of the installation.

Speech Business lineThe minister of the Union said he wanted to review the facilities of the terminal and comply with all the interested parties involved.

The development occurs after several hundred flights were affected in the last two weeks due to bad weather, as well as at the close of the 10/28 track, which is experiencing improvements. The interruption led to a violent reaction on social networks, including J&K’s prime minister, Omar Abdullah. Abdullah lashed out at the authorities after his flight was diverted to Jaipur. “Delhi airport is a bloody show (sorry for my Frenchman but I’m not in humor to be educated) 3 hours in the air after the last time we divert ourselves to Jaipur and here I am at 1 in the morning on the steps of the plane, what comes, what comes.

Industry sources said Business line That the combination of “inclement climatic conditions such as dust storms, changing wind patterns and the closure of the track has affected the flight movement.”

“By understanding the seriousness of the deteriorated situation, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MOCA) also convened a meeting of interested parties to understand all aspects of the operations, including security and passenger complaints,” said the sources of the industry that added was the meeting.

According to industry sources, one of the solutions that are contemplated is to ‘stop’ the update work of the 10/28 track.

“A formal moca decision is required to stop the update work so that it can restart in the Esbelle season after June,” the sources said.

For its part, Delhi Ltd. International Airport (Dial), which maintains and operates IGI airport, had published in its X that IGIA is currently experiencing essential updates of the track.

“We are working closely with all interested parties to minimize any potential impact on flight operations,” Dial had published in X.

Track closure

Meanwhile, the airport sources cited that Dial had revealed their plans to close the track in January.

At that time, the airport operator had said that the track would be closed for four months, from March 1 to June 30, 2025. The track was closed for update from April 8, 2025.

“It should be noted that we are currently operating around 1,325 ATMs (air traffic movements) per day, although the real operational capacity is much higher. In addition, it can be taken into account that it is equal to the closing of RWY 10/28, Dialture is Agat Atc,” Dial had written in a letter to seek regulatory elimination in January.

“Therefore, the capacity of 1,400 ATMs for a four -month period is not expected to have a great impact on the operational capacity against real demand,” said the letter.
