The First Professional Basketball League in India was launched on Friday through an association between the Basketball Federation of India and ACG Sports.
The First Professional Basketball League of India has been launched, with the competition scheduled to present a competitive league structured in 5×5 and 3×3 formats for men and women, establishing a comprehensive professional ecosystem that opens the door so that athletes from all over the country pursue basketball as a viable career.
This League, launched on Friday, is a collaboration between the Indian Basketball Federation (BFI) and ACG Sports Private Limited. Designed to redefine how sport in India is played, experienced and supported, the league aims to change the basketball of a niche discipline to a conventional search.
ACG-BFI collaboration
To guide the global strategy and operations of the League, Jeremy Luliger, former CEO and Commissioner of the National Basketball League of Australia (NBL), has been appointed director of ACG Sports. In its new role, Luriger will lead the development of the Liga Plan, bringing international government standards, competition and commercial innovation to the Indian coasts, according to a Press statement from BFI and ACG.
“Basketball representatives rather than a single sport: it is a vehicle to build character, leadership and opportunity,” said Karan Singh, ACG managing director. As part of its long -term strategy, ACG will launch the first fully residential high performance center in India within the year.
