Explainer: How Pakistan Airspace Closure Will Hit Indian Carriers and Passengers

International flight operations of Indian airlines such as Air India, Indigo and others have tasks a direct blow after Pakistan decided to close their airspace to Indian aircraft carriers amid increasing tensions between the two countries, after Pahalgam’s terrorist attack. The flights to North America, the United Kingdom, Europe and the Middle East of the cities of northern India now longer alternative routes on the Arabic Sea, which will result in prolonged flight durations of up to two and a half hours.
